About the Workshop Manager Role
The Workshop Manager will lead and oversee all vehicle maintenance and repair operations within Arm Secure Limited’s workshop. This hands-on leadership role demands effective supervision of mechanics and technicians to ensure all work is performed safely, accurately, and within designated timelines. The successful candidate will play a critical role in minimizing vehicle downtime and ensuring the fleet remains operationally ready at all times.
Key Responsibilities for Workshop Manager Jobs in Lusaka
- Supervise and coordinate all vehicle repair and maintenance activities in the workshop.
- Ensure timely and correct completion of vehicle repairs, adhering to agreed turnaround times.
- Monitor daily repair progress and proactively address any delays.
- Lead, evaluate, and mentor mechanics and technicians to maintain high-quality workmanship and productivity.
- Enforce adherence to company procedures, safety standards, and performance expectations among workshop staff.
- Diagnose recurring vehicle issues and implement effective corrective actions to reduce repeat breakdowns.
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules for the entire company fleet.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and vehicle service histories.
- Manage workshop resources, tools, and equipment to optimize operational efficiency.
- Oversee spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of necessary components.
- Prepare maintenance reports and provide regular updates on vehicle status, workshop performance, and fleet readiness.
- Ensure all vehicles comply with roadworthiness, licensing, insurance, and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Fleet Management, or a related discipline.
- At least five (5) years of experience in vehicle maintenance and workshop management.
- Minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity overseeing mechanics and workshop personnel.
- Proven expertise in vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and fleet maintenance.
- Experience managing large vehicle fleets is highly advantageous, particularly within security, transport, or logistics sectors.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and compliance standards.
- Excellent leadership, planning, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
- High integrity, accountability, and meticulous attention to detail.
