Position Overview for Workshop Controller Jobs in Kitwe

As a Workshop Controller at Tri-Pump, you will work closely with the Workshop Manager, technicians, stores, and accounts teams to ensure smooth and efficient workshop operations. You will oversee all stages of job intake through to completion, focusing on effective management of Work in Progress (WIP), inventory control, and commercial administration to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Workshop Operations: Plan, monitor, and manage WIP; open and close jobs within the management system; track turnaround times and address operational bottlenecks.
  • Inventory & Stores: Monitor stock levels of critical spare parts, initiate procurement requisitions, and conduct regular stock reconciliations.
  • Commercial & Administration: Support job costing including labor, materials, and outsourced services; ensure accuracy of job cards, quotations, and inspection reports; coordinate with Accounts to facilitate smooth invoicing processes.
  • Systems & Reporting: Maintain accurate records using Sage Evolution and prepare detailed performance reports covering WIP status and productivity metrics.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in workshop administration, inventory management, manufacturing, or engineering support; pump repair or industrial equipment experience is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency with Sage Evolution and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Technical aptitude with a willingness to learn fundamentals of centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals, bearings, and general workshop practices; engineering qualifications are not required.
