Key Responsibilities for Workshop Assistant Jobs in Lusaka
- Assist the maintenance team by performing general labor tasks, including minor electrical and mechanical repairs.
- Operate hand power tools safely and handle lifting of heavy objects as required during assigned shifts.
- Carry out minor repairs on mechanical and electrical machines, equipment, and systems under supervision.
- Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and clean-up duties to ensure smooth operations.
- Inspect control panels and electrical wiring to identify and address urgent maintenance issues.
- Examine machinery for proper functioning, identify defects, disassemble damaged equipment for repair, and reassemble after completion.
- Receive and manage deliveries of tools, equipment, and parts, facilitating easy access for installation or assembly by the maintenance team.
- Review work orders to determine necessary parts, equipment, and services for maintenance and repairs.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, dusting, and mopping assigned areas.
- Attend to basic plumbing tasks including clearing clogged drains and maintaining plumbing fixtures.
- Undertake related duties as assigned to support the maintenance department.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of Grade 12 school certificate.
- Craft Certificate in metal fabrication is required.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a similar maintenance or workshop assistant role is preferred.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team environment.
