Key Responsibilities for Workshop Assistant Jobs in Lusaka

• Assist the maintenance team by performing general labor tasks, including minor electrical and mechanical repairs.
• Operate hand power tools safely and handle lifting of heavy objects as required during assigned shifts.
• Carry out minor repairs on mechanical and electrical machines, equipment, and systems under supervision.
• Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and clean-up duties to ensure smooth operations.
• Inspect control panels and electrical wiring to identify and address urgent maintenance issues.
• Examine machinery for proper functioning, identify defects, disassemble damaged equipment for repair, and reassemble after completion.
• Receive and manage deliveries of tools, equipment, and parts, facilitating easy access for installation or assembly by the maintenance team.
• Review work orders to determine necessary parts, equipment, and services for maintenance and repairs.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, dusting, and mopping assigned areas.
• Attend to basic plumbing tasks including clearing clogged drains and maintaining plumbing fixtures.
• Undertake related duties as assigned to support the maintenance department.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of Grade 12 school certificate.
• Craft Certificate in metal fabrication is required.
• At least three (3) years of experience in a similar maintenance or workshop assistant role is preferred.
• Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team environment.
