About the WASH Project Driver Role

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the WASH Project by ensuring efficient and secure transportation for staff, partners, and project-related engagements throughout Lusaka and surrounding areas. This contract position offers an annual salary range of ZMW 15,000 to ZMW 78,000, reflecting experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities of the WASH Project Driver

• Safely transport staff and authorized personnel to field visits, meetings, workshops, conferences, and airport transfers.
• Operate the assigned vehicle in compliance with The Salvation Army Zambia Territory policies and all applicable traffic laws.
• Maintain safe driving practices at all times to ensure the safety of passengers and cargo.
• Regularly monitor the vehicle’s condition, including insurance, road tax, fitness certificates, and other statutory requirements.
• Promptly report any vehicle faults and ensure timely renewal of all vehicle documentation.
• Accept responsibility for any fines or traffic violations resulting from misuse of the vehicle.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and perform basic maintenance checks to guarantee operational readiness.
• Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support project objectives.

Qualifications and Skills Required for Wash Project Driver Jobs in Lusaka

Ideal candidates will meet the following criteria:

• Proven experience as a professional driver with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Possession of a Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent educational qualification.
• Strong knowledge of Lusaka’s roads and surrounding areas, with familiarity in using GPS navigation systems.
• Physical ability to lift heavy packages and luggage when necessary.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, night shifts, and travel as required by the project.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism, courtesy, and composure under pressure.
• Experience driving for NGOs, humanitarian organizations, development projects, or community-based programs will be an advantage.
