Role Overview: Tumbuka Bible Translator

As a full-time Bible Translator on the Tumbuka Bible Translation Project, you will play an essential role in ensuring the Scriptures are translated with clarity, accuracy, and cultural relevance. You will collaborate closely with a team of translators, reviewers, and consultants to faithfully communicate God’s Word to Tumbuka speakers.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate biblical texts from source languages into the Tumbuka language with precision and contextual understanding.
• Work collaboratively with the translation team to review and refine translations.
• Apply translation principles and standards to maintain theological accuracy and readability.
• Utilize digital tools and software to support the translation process.
• Engage in textual analysis and exegesis to interpret complex source material effectively.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficiency in a biblical source language such as Biblical Hebrew, Greek, or a major gateway language.
• Excellent command of the Tumbuka language, including grammar, style, and idiomatic expressions.
• Strong knowledge of biblical culture, history, theology, and common interpretations.
