Role Overview and Key Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this role is to conduct process operations training and development activities that improve business performance by upgrading the skills and knowledge of process operations employees. As a Trainer & Assessor, you will design, deliver, and evaluate comprehensive training programs aligned with First Quantum’s standards.

  • Develop and implement training curricula and simulator-based control room scenarios covering start-up, shutdown, process disturbances, and emergency responses.
  • Create training materials including manuals, handbooks, multimedia aids, and e-learning content in line with FQM Trident Standards.
  • Facilitate training sessions and assessments, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and competence evaluation.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and moderate formal training and assessment programs.
  • Manage training administration including scheduling events in INX-InTuition, maintaining records, and issuing certifications.
  • Monitor and report on training effectiveness and project progress.
  • Ensure safe operation of training equipment and timely reporting of safety and environmental incidents.
  • Support facilitators and assessors with online program development activities.

Essential Skills and Qualifications for Trainer and Assessor Jobs in Kalumbila

Candidates must demonstrate a strong background in mineral processing plant operations and training, with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum Grade 12 certificate and a degree in Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Diploma in Training and Development, Teaching Methodology, or equivalent is advantageous.
  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in process operations, preferably in copper and/or nickel mining.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a trainer and assessor in the mining sector or similar industries.
  • Hands-on experience with mineral processing plant control room operations, including Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7 exposure.
  • Registered training professional with TEVETA and valid EIZ/ERB membership.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and e-learning platforms with excellent communication, mentoring, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, report writing, and evaluation capabilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety principles and training design methodologies.
