Role Overview: Telematics Platform Manager Jobs in Lusaka

As the Telematics Platform Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end telematics ecosystem, including the in-house Fleet-Radar platform and third-party vendor services. This role combines technical leadership, product ownership, and operational management to ensure data accuracy, platform reliability, and seamless hardware deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Reliability: Maintain uptime, data freshness, and GPS telemetry accuracy across all systems. Define and enforce SLAs for ping rates, position accuracy, alert latency, device connectivity, and incident response.
• Roadmap and Delivery: Collaborate with the CTO to set the Fleet-Radar product roadmap, balancing in-house development with third-party solutions. Prioritize development backlogs based on customer and operational needs.
• Hardware and Field Operations: Manage the full lifecycle of GPS units, fuel and temperature sensors, AI cameras, and electronic locks. Coordinate installation, provisioning, quality assurance, and recovery processes with operations teams.
• Vendor and Partner Management: Serve as the primary contact for tracking platform providers, sensor distributors, and connectivity suppliers. Negotiate contracts, manage commercial terms, and ensure vendor compliance with SLAs.
• Customer Escalations and Support: Act as the final escalation point for GPS-related issues. Partner with sales, operations, and country leadership to support onboarding, training, and retention efforts.
• Team Leadership: Lead and develop a cross-functional team comprising software and field specialists. Recruit talent, manage performance, and foster collaboration between technical and operational groups.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 6 years’ experience in telematics, fleet management, IoT, or logistics technology, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or related fields; additional certifications are advantageous.
• Practical knowledge of GPS hardware such as Teltonika, Queclink, Concox, or Ruptela, including provisioning and field troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with telematics protocols (Codec8/8E or similar), MQTT/TCP data ingestion, and backend tracking system architectures.
• Proven track record managing SLAs and uptime for production platforms serving commercial customers.
• Experience in vendor contract negotiation and supplier management.
• Strong leadership skills managing mixed software and field teams with operational rigor.
• Background in logistics, trucking, or cross-border transport industries, preferably with experience in Southern or East African markets.
• Knowledge of related hardware such as fuel sensors, temperature sensors, AI dashcams, and electronic locks.
• Exposure to AWS-hosted backend environments (ECS, RDS/Postgres, CloudWatch) with the ability to interpret dashboards and engage with technical teams effectively.

Location and Reporting

This full-time position is based on-site in Lusaka, Zambia, and Nashik, India, with travel required to customer locations and regional offices. The role reports directly to the Head of Technology.
