Role Overview: Technical Trainer – Agriculture

Reporting directly to the Learning and Development Specialist, the Technical Trainer will design, deliver, and evaluate agriculture-related technical training programs. The successful candidate will play a key role in closing technical skills gaps, supporting engineering maintenance, and coordinating various training initiatives to enhance workforce competence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and conduct technical training programs related to agricultural operations.
• Create on-the-job learning materials, assessments, and technical training modules.
• Perform learning needs analysis for agricultural technical operations at the Mill.
• Support root cause analysis during technical problem-solving sessions.
• Advise frontline managers on strategies to address technical skills gaps.
• Facilitate formal upskilling programs, apprenticeships, and learnerships.
• Coordinate SHERQ legal and mandatory training, ensuring compliance with site policies.
• Manage training logistics including venue bookings, stationery, and housekeeping.
• Maintain comprehensive records of training activities and provide progress reports to management.
• Contribute to annual Learning & Development budgeting and planning.
• Promote adherence to ABF’s policies on SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption.

Qualifications and Experience

• Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Diploma in Agriculture with specialization in Crop Science or equivalent qualification.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar technical training role within agriculture.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate assertively and influence stakeholders.
• Strong business acumen and passion for workforce development.
• Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Computer literate with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
• Valid driver’s license.
