The Supervisor, Instrumentation will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and installation of Instrument Control systems, ensuring all work complies with company standards and statutory requirements. This full-time position demands leadership, technical proficiency, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.

Key Responsibilities for Supervisor Instrumentation Jobs in Solwezi

• Lead and mentor the Instrumentation team, promoting the First Quantum Way and a strong safety culture.
• Manage installation and replacement of Instrument Control systems in line with company and vendor specifications.
• Maintain and update instrumentation drawings and documentation accurately.
• Implement planned and preventative maintenance schedules to minimize production disruption.
• Prepare detailed reports covering activities, resource use, and costs.
• Ensure immediate reporting of incidents to the Superintendent.
• Maintain adequate stock levels of instrumentation equipment and critical spares in the warehouse.
• Supervise safe use and maintenance of hand tools and test equipment within the section.
• Coordinate and schedule training to meet safety and compliance standards.
• Identify specialized training needs and support continuous professional development.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Instrumentation Superintendent.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation or related Industrial Software Systems.
• Siemens STEP 7 certification and experience with CitectSCADA.
• Valid Low Voltage (LV) Driver’s License.
• Verification of academic qualifications through the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) is mandatory.
• Minimum five years of experience in a mining plant environment as an Industrial Software Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of Siemens 300 & 400 PLCs, Siemens H-PLC, WinCC (Flex), Simocode motor protection relays, and variable speed drives (ABB & Danfoss).
• Proficiency with AVEVA Plant SCADA (version 8+), Profibus DP & PA, Profinet, Modbus, and related communication protocols.
• Experience with industrial network configuration, including domain controllers, DNS, and DHCP servers.
• Familiarity with virtualization software (Hyper-V, VMWare), cybersecurity in OT environments, and antivirus systems is advantageous.
• Knowledge of DCS systems (preferably Siemens PCS7), Expert control systems, OPC DA/UA systems, and CCTV systems is a plus.
• Ability to read P&ID and electrical drawings and use measuring instruments effectively.
• Completion of leadership or supervisory training courses is preferred.
