Position Overview for Steel Fixers Jobs in Zambia

As a Steel Fixer with Projects Plus Limited, you will be responsible for executing all reinforcement tasks on site, ensuring the structural integrity and compliance of concrete elements. Your expertise in reading Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and structural drawings will be essential to accurately cut, bend, and fix reinforcement bars and mesh to meet project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Interpretation: Accurately read and interpret Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and structural drawings to determine precise reinforcement requirements.
Fabrication: Cut and bend steel reinforcement bars to the required shapes and sizes using manual or hydraulic bending machines.
Fixing & Tying: Securely fix reinforcement bars for foundations, slabs, columns, beams, and walls, tying bars firmly with wire to prevent movement during concreting.
Spacing & Cover: Maintain correct spacing between reinforcement bars and use spacers or chairs to ensure the specified concrete cover is achieved as per design.
Mesh Installation: Install and fix steel wire mesh (such as Φ4mm mesh) in concrete ditches and thinner slabs following project specifications.
Safety: Handle heavy steel loads safely and comply with all safety protocols related to lifting and working with sharp materials.

Candidate Requirements

Proven experience working as a Steel Fixer within the construction industry.
Competency in reading Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and structural drawings is essential.
Experience handling both light mesh installation and heavy structural reinforcement projects.
Physical stamina and the ability to work effectively in various weather conditions.
