About the Statutory Compliance Specialist Role

Reporting directly to the Head of Department, the Statutory Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in safeguarding the company’s compliance with statutory requirements. Unlike other specialists who handle individual client accounts, this position is responsible for consolidating payroll data from all specialists and managing submissions to government portals. The role demands meticulous attention to detail and proactive payment tracking to avoid any late penalties.

Key Responsibilities for Statutory Compliance Specialist Jobs in Lusaka

  • Portal Upload Management: Compile payroll files from all specialists and ensure accurate monthly uploads to ZRA TaxOnline, NAPSA, and NHIMA portals.
  • Employer Match Verification: Confirm correct calculation and allocation of employer contributions, including the 5% NAPSA match (capped at K1,861.80), 1% NHIMA match, and 0.5% Skills Development Levy (SDL) for each client.
  • Payment Monitoring: Coordinate with treasury and finance teams to verify that all statutory payments have cleared bank accounts and reached government agencies before the 10th of each month.
  • Audit Coordination: Collect and organize historical submission receipts, e-returns, and compliance certificates to support annual Workers’ Compensation assessments and government audits.

Performance Metrics and Compliance Standards

  • Submission Deadline Compliance: Ensure 100% of e-returns are uploaded and validated by the 10th of the following month, maintaining zero penalties.
  • Reconciliation Accuracy: Achieve perfect alignment between payroll system totals and portal receipts.
  • Compliance Certificate Maintenance: Keep valid and active clearance certificates from ZRA and NAPSA at all times.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Education: Diploma in Accounting, Tax Administration, or Finance.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience specializing in Zambian corporate tax filings or statutory compliance, with comprehensive knowledge of ZRA TaxOnline and NAPSA web portals.
