Dogtech Security Company Limited is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Cook to join our team at our Lilayi Chilanga location in Lusaka, Zambia. Position Overview: Staff Cook Role

As the Staff Cook, you will live on site with allocated off days and play a vital role in ensuring quality meal preparation tailored to the nutritional needs of our staff and working dogs. Your responsibilities will include managing kitchen operations, stock control, and maintaining a clean and hygienic environment in line with company policies.

Key Responsibilities for Staff Cook Jobs in Chilanga Lusaka

  • Prepare and cook all daily meals for staff at the Kennel Base according to approved menus and portion sizes.
  • Prepare meals for Dogtech’s K9s following established nutritional requirements and feeding schedules.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic kitchen, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Manage food supplies, including receiving, checking, storing, and stock rotation using FIFO principles.
  • Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and storage conditions to prevent shortages or wastage.
  • Coordinate closely with the Head of Procurement on food requirements, stock management, and purchasing needs.
  • Keep accurate records of food consumption, stock movement, and assist with requisitions and stock requests.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are properly maintained and report any malfunctions promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all company policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Perform additional duties related to catering, food preparation, and kitchen operations as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Cook, Chef, Kitchen Assistant, or similar role with demonstrated ability to prepare meals for multiple people.
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene, health, and sanitation practices.
  • Experience in food stock control, inventory management, or stores management is advantageous.
  • Ability to follow recipes, menus, portion controls, and specific food preparation instructions consistently.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Physically fit to perform duties in a busy kitchen and kennel environment.
  • Honest, reliable, disciplined, and a positive team player.

Desirable Qualifications and Attributes

  • Formal qualifications or certificates in Food Preparation, Cookery, Hospitality, or Catering.
  • Training in food safety and hygiene.
  • Experience working in camps, lodges, boarding facilities, or similar environments.
  • Experience preparing food for working dogs or animals is an added advantage.
  • Personal qualities such as honesty, punctuality, attention to detail, responsibility, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Comfortable working around K9s and following established feeding procedures.

Reporting and Work Environment

The Staff Cook will report directly to the Head of Procurement and collaborate with management and operational staff to ensure smooth kitchen and feeding operations. The role requires living on site at the Lilayi Chilanga Kennel Base with designated off days.
