As the Sports Development Coordinator, you will plan, organize, and oversee sports programs designed to enhance participation and nurture talent at all levels. You will be instrumental in creating pathways for athletes from grassroots to elite stages while fostering strong partnerships with schools, clubs, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities of the Sports Development Coordinator
- Design, coordinate, and evaluate grassroots and competitive sports programs.
- Organize events, clinics, and tournaments to promote physical activity and talent identification.
- Support athlete progression pathways from beginner to elite levels.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, clubs, coaches, parents, and governing bodies.
- Act as a liaison between First Quantum Minerals and external partners.
- Provide resources and support for continuing education in coaching best practices.
- Track program outcomes and participation data, delivering regular progress reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and inclusivity standards.
- Develop promotional materials and utilize digital platforms to increase program visibility.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in sports development, coaching, or community recreation.
- Knowledge of national and regional sports structures and policies.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with sports management platforms is advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel locally.
- All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).

- Program development aligned with organizational goals.
- Facility management ensuring accessibility and maintenance.
- Event planning and coordination of tournaments, leagues, and competitions.
- Budgeting and sponsorship management, including fundraising efforts.

- Technical skills with the ability to drive participation and attendance.
Operational Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sports programs within budget and organizational guidelines.
- Manage resources including equipment, venues, and staff allocations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and conduct risk assessments.
- Manage child protection and safeguarding protocols effectively.
- Collaborate with local authorities, schools, clubs, and community organizations.
- Schedule staffing for events and provide ongoing professional development support.
- Oversee venue bookings, permits, and equipment logistics.
- Prepare detailed reports for funders and stakeholders.
- Promote programs through social media, newsletters, and public events.
