Role Overview: Specialist Training Fixed Plant Mechanical Maintenance
This full-time position focuses on identifying training needs, organizing, and conducting technical training and assessments for engineering and operational staff. The goal is to maximize competence, improve mechanical maintenance efficiency, and support operational excellence at our Solwezi site.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and planning teams to assess mechanical training requirements aligned with operational priorities.
- Evaluate employee competence and consolidate a comprehensive mechanical technical training plan.
- Develop, update, and maintain practical and theoretical training packages to address skill gaps.
- Select and implement effective training methods and coordinate schedules with supervisors to ensure timely delivery.
- Assess training effectiveness through performance observations and adjust programs accordingly.
- Identify training needs arising during machine breakdowns, shutdowns, and maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate training records and matrices within the approved Learning Management System.
- Foster productive communication with stakeholders to report progress and refine training initiatives.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, environmental, and quality policies to promote a safe working environment.
- Provide regular reports as required by senior technical leadership and perform additional duties supporting the Training Department.
Qualifications and Experience
- Technician or Technology Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Technical Teacher Certificate or Diploma in Teaching Methodology from a recognized institution.
- All qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
- Minimum of 5 years’ mechanical experience in the mining industry.
- At least 2 years’ experience in training and development, preferably within mining.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with trainees, team members, and senior leadership.
- Capability to identify and recommend improvements to maintenance and operational practices.
- Proven ability to implement changes in training practices and systematically monitor outcomes.
Operational Requirements
- Availability for standby duties and overtime as required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work at heights and in environments exposed to dust, heat, noise, and chemicals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
