Role Overview: Software Developer Jobs in Lusaka

We are hiring talented developers for two tracks: Full-Time Software Developer and Paid Software Developer Internship. Both roles involve building robust features using modern frontend frameworks like Next.js and scalable Node.js backends, designing secure APIs, managing databases, and maintaining engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities (Both Tracks)

  • Develop and ship features across the full technology stack.
  • Design and maintain secure, strictly typed APIs (RPC/OpenAPI) and scalable architectures.
  • Work extensively with PostgreSQL, Drizzle ORM, and Convex, including database migrations.
  • Write clean, efficient, and secure code adhering to SDLC best practices.
  • Create comprehensive tests using Vitest, Jest, and Playwright; implement logging and metrics.
  • Collaborate using Git and GitHub, managing branching, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines in an Agile environment.
  • Produce clear technical documentation aligned with engineering standards.

Track A: Full-Time Software Developer

Ideal candidates will have 2 to 3+ years of professional software engineering experience or an equivalent strong portfolio. You should be highly proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js, with the ability to design complex data models, implement design patterns, and write maintainable code. A solid understanding of web security principles (e.g., OWASP top 10), automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), cloud deployment, and payments infrastructure (Stripe integrations) is essential.

Preferred skills include experience with OpenAPI/Swagger, Drizzle ORM, Convex, multi-tenant SaaS architectures, performance profiling, and web accessibility standards.

What You Gain: A competitive salary, ownership of key system modules, and a clear career progression path toward Senior or Lead roles within an international company.

Track B: Paid Software Developer Internship

This internship suits recent graduates or self-taught developers with a strong foundation in computer science and a passion for learning. Candidates should be available for approximately 40 hours per week over 3 to 6 months and possess a GitHub profile or portfolio showcasing 2 to 3 substantial full-stack projects, preferably using TypeScript and Node.js. Basic knowledge of Git and testing concepts is also required.

Benefits: Paid internship, hands-on experience with modern development tools, and potential for a full-time offer based on performance.

Minimum Qualifications for Both Tracks

  • Strong grasp of core computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, and system design basics.
  • Proficiency in asynchronous programming, HTTP, and REST/RPC protocols.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams and fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to independently read documentation, debug systematically, and communicate technical ideas clearly.
