About the Role – Software Developer Jobs in Lusaka

Based in Lusaka, the Software Developer will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and digital platforms that enhance EIZ’s operational efficiency and member services. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to automating business processes, improving data management systems, and supporting the institution’s digital innovation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain web-based and mobile applications.
Develop and manage membership management systems, online licensing platforms, and other institutional software solutions.
Integrate applications with third-party systems and payment gateways.
Maintain databases ensuring data integrity, security, and availability.
Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues and system failures promptly.
Prepare system documentation, user manuals, and technical specifications.
Implement cybersecurity best practices and comply with data protection regulations.
Conduct system upgrades, enhancements, and performance optimizations.
Provide technical support and training to end-users.
Stay updated on emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and software development trends relevant to EIZ.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
At least four (4) years of proven experience in software development, with a strong emphasis on C# and the .NET framework.
Experience developing enterprise-level web and mobile applications.
Advanced knowledge of relational databases, especially Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), including database design, complex queries, stored procedures, indexing, and performance tuning. Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL is advantageous.
Membership in the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) or the Information and Communication Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ) is preferred.

Technical Skills Required

Strong proficiency in C# and .NET framework for building robust, scalable, and maintainable applications.
Ability to code in Java and other back-end languages.
Solid front-end development skills using modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
Experience with back-end development, including building and integrating RESTful APIs.
Knowledge of cloud platforms and deployment technologies.
Familiarity with DevOps practices, version control systems (Git), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices.
Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies is an added advantage.
