Role Overview – Site Supervisor Jobs in Lumwana

Reporting to the Country Manager for Zambia, the Site Supervisor will oversee the maintenance and management of the Rolls-Royce engine fleet at Lumwana under the Value Care Agreement (VCA). You will lead the on-site team to ensure high-quality service delivery, compliance with safety and operational standards, and strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a 24-hour standby and call-out service or shift work as per contractual agreements with the customer.
  • Provide hands-on support to the maintenance team during engine servicing and repairs.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OEM standards, MHSA regulations, and Rolls-Royce Solutions Africa quality protocols including ISO 9001.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of engine failures, service history, parts consumption, and stock levels.
  • Supervise stock control, ensuring adequate inventory, proper labeling, warranties, and core returns with an annual stock discrepancy below 0.2%.
  • Represent Rolls-Royce Solutions Africa professionally on site and foster positive relationships with customers and mine personnel.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) requirements and that all personnel use appropriate safety equipment.
  • Coordinate with logistics for parts forecasting and timely replenishment up to 12 months in advance.
  • Participate in planning, reporting, training, and continuous improvement activities to enhance site operations.
  • Document and report engine operating hours, availability, reliability (MTBF), fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules as required under the VCA.
  • Follow communications protocols to ensure service schedules are met and no service extends beyond agreed periods.
  • Resolve on-site disputes or escalate to management when necessary to maintain strong customer relations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; alternatively, qualified Diesel Mechanic or Millwright.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ technical experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Completion of site legal requirements including Risk Assessment, PUE Training, RP License, Isolation Lockout, Fire Fighting, First Aid, Mine Health and Safety training, and Section 22 and 23 training within six months of appointment.
  • OEM training certifications such as S4000 QL1-QL3, S2000 QL1-QL3, ADEC, DDEC, and Rolls-Royce Solutions Africa core acceptance criteria.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Diasys, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic, and other relevant software.
