Bangweulu Wetlands is seeking a dedicated shoebill camp manager jobs lavushimanda candidate to lead the operations of our remote safari camp in Lavushimanda. This full-time role offers the opportunity to manage a unique conservation-focused camp under the stewardship of African Parks, a renowned non-profit organisation managing protected areas across Africa.

About African Parks and the Camp Manager Role

African Parks partners with governments and local communities to ensure the long-term management of protected areas across 13 countries, including Zambia. The Camp Manager will oversee all aspects of camp operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong leadership of the Nsobe camp team, and strict adherence to conservation principles and African Parks’ standards.

Key Responsibilities for Shoebill Camp Manager Jobs Lavushimanda

• Camp Operations & Guest Experience: Manage daily camp activities, supervise staff, ensure high standards of cleanliness and service, engage with guests while respecting their privacy, and promptly resolve any guest concerns.
• Staff Leadership: Lead and motivate the camp team, allocate duties across departments, enforce policies and safety standards, identify training needs, and foster a positive, value-driven team culture.
• Financial & Stock Control: Oversee budgeting, procurement, inventory management, and implement controls to reduce wastage and theft.
• Maintenance & Logistics: Ensure infrastructure and equipment are well maintained, coordinate repairs, and manage logistics related to supplies and fuel.
• Health, Safety & Security: Maintain the safety of guests, staff, and property, implement security protocols including night patrols, and respond effectively to emergencies.
• Environmental & Conservation Duties: Align camp operations with environmental guidelines, promote eco-friendly practices, respect local wildlife, and support conservation messaging to guests.
• Reporting & Administration: Prepare operational reports, maintain accurate documentation, liaise with park management and other departments, and ensure policy compliance.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Hospitality, Tourism, Business, Conservation, or related field.
• At least 5 years’ experience managing a safari camp or similar hospitality environment.
• Experience working in rural and remote locations with local communities.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and financial management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and initiative.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in English required, Bemba language skills advantageous.
• Computer literacy.
