About the SHEQ Officer Role in Kalumbila

The primary objective of this position is to promote and sustain a robust SHEQ culture throughout the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies to maintain a safe workplace. This role requires proactive engagement in auditing, risk assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture a strong SHEQ culture aligned with company values.
  • Ensure strict compliance with SHEQ legislation and internal standards.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Support thorough investigations and reporting of incidents.
  • Deliver safety training, inductions, and awareness programs to staff.
  • Identify workplace hazards and implement effective preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate SHEQ documentation and reporting systems.
  • Collaborate closely with management to enhance health and safety practices.

Essential Requirements

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Degree in Occupational Safety, Health & Environment.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in SHEQ roles.
  • NEBOSH certification is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and ISO standards.
  • Experience in mining or industrial environments is advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Membership with the Zambia Occupational Safety and Health Association (ZOSHA).
