Senior Quantity Surveyor Role Overview
Our client requires a Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee all commercial and quantity surveying functions across construction projects. This role demands expertise in accurate cost estimation, contract management, measurement, valuation, procurement support, financial reporting, and cost control. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered profitably while adhering to contractual and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities for Senior Quantity Surveyor Jobs in Lumwana
- Commercial & Cost Management: Develop and manage project budgets, prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and produce monthly financial reports.
- Contract Administration: Administer contracts, prepare interim valuations and payment certificates, manage variations and claims, and resolve commercial disputes.
- Measurement & Valuation: Conduct accurate quantity take-offs, verify completed works, prepare valuations, and maintain measurement records.
- Procurement & Subcontract Management: Support procurement planning, prepare subcontract documentation, monitor subcontractor performance, and review supplier quotations.
- Project Cost Control: Track project progress against budgets, identify commercial risks, produce financial performance reports, and forecast project costs to completion.
- Leadership & Team Management: Supervise and mentor quantity surveying staff, allocate workloads, support professional development, and promote collaboration.
- Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, attend meetings, and provide commercial advice.
- Compliance, Quality & Risk: Ensure adherence to company procedures, contractual obligations, health and safety policies, and participate in audits.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional registration with a recognised Quantity Surveying body is advantageous.
- At least 8 to 10 years of quantity surveying experience in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or mining projects.
- Proven track record managing large construction contracts and subcontractors.
- Experience handling contract claims, variations, and final accounts.
