Role Overview: Senior Process Control Specialist

Reporting to the Optimization Superintendent, you will be a pivotal member of the process optimization team responsible for enhancing the Sentinel copper concentrator plant’s operational efficiency. Your expertise will drive the identification of improvement opportunities, the development and deployment of advanced control strategies, and the integration of AI applications into existing process control systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive data analysis to identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement optimization initiatives that enhance plant performance.
• Develop, refine, and tune base layer and expert control systems to ensure process stability and efficiency.
• Design and deploy adaptive advanced process control strategies to maintain consistent product quality.
• Build and utilize soft sensors for real-time monitoring and predictive modeling of critical process variables.
• Lead the integration of artificial intelligence applications to improve process control responsiveness and intelligence.
• Work closely with IT and automation teams to ensure seamless AI integration.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to local employees, promoting skill development and knowledge sharing.
• Facilitate training sessions on the latest process control technologies and methodologies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Control, or a related discipline.
• Eligibility for membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and legal appointment under the Mining Regulations of Zambia.
• All qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
• Over 10 years of experience in process control engineering within copper and nickel sulphide concentrator plants or similar mineral processing environments.
• Proficiency in advanced control strategies, soft sensors, and AI applications in process control.
