About the Radiation Protection Authority

Established under the Ionising Radiation Protection Act No. 16 of 2005 and its Amendment Act No. 19 of 2011, the Radiation Protection Authority is mandated to protect the public, workers, and the environment from hazards related to ionising radiation. The Authority regulates the use of devices and materials that emit ionising radiation to safeguard health and safety.

Role Overview: Senior Legal Officer

Reporting directly to the Legal Manager, the Senior Legal Officer will provide critical legal services to ensure that the Authority’s operations comply fully with applicable laws. This role requires a proactive legal expert who can support the Authority’s governance and risk management through thorough legal review and advice.

Key Responsibilities for Senior Legal Officer Jobs in Lusaka

• Provide secretariat services to the Board and its Committees to facilitate effective governance and decision-making.
• Review and draft contracts, agreements, laws, regulations, and other legal documents to protect the Authority’s interests.
• Ensure draft policy documents comply with relevant legal frameworks and standards.
• Deliver timely legal opinions and advice to minimise legal and financial risks for the Authority.

Qualifications and Experience

• Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate.
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree.
• Advocate of the High Court.
• Membership in the Law Association of Zambia.
• Valid Practising Certificate.
• A minimum of four (4) years’ relevant legal work experience.
