Position Overview for Senior Land Surveyor Jobs in Lumwana

This full-time role requires a seasoned surveyor to provide technical leadership and ensure precision in all surveying tasks. The successful candidate will establish and verify survey controls, perform setting-out for various civil works, and conduct detailed topographical and as-built surveys. Maintaining compliance with engineering drawings, project specifications, and quality standards is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish, maintain, and verify survey control points, benchmarks, and reference systems.
• Execute setting-out for earthworks, roads, drainage, buildings, and related infrastructure.
• Conduct topographical, dimensional, and as-built surveys; prepare accurate survey reports.
• Interpret engineering drawings, designs, and construction specifications accurately.
• Perform volume and quantity calculations, including cut-and-fill measurements.
• Monitor construction works to ensure compliance with design coordinates, levels, and tolerances.
• Maintain precise survey records, field data, and documentation.
• Coordinate closely with engineers, project managers, supervisors, and construction teams.
• Supervise and mentor junior survey personnel, providing technical guidance.
• Ensure all surveying activities adhere to project health, safety, and environmental (HSE) and quality requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or Diploma in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
• 8 to 10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in mining, construction, or large-scale civil engineering projects.
• Proficient in Total Stations, GPS/GNSS, and modern surveying equipment.
• Working knowledge of relevant survey and CAD software applications.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, survey controls, earthworks, and setting-out procedures.
• Proven ability to work independently and lead surveying activities in demanding project environments.
