Position Overview: Senior Communications Officer Jobs in Lusaka

As Senior Communications Officer, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive media strategies that enhance ZICTA’s visibility and reputation locally and internationally. You will serve as the primary liaison for media inquiries, coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, and oversee the creation of high-quality content across multiple communication platforms. This role demands a proactive leader skilled in managing press relations, crisis communications, and protocol management to protect and promote the Authority’s interests.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement media strategies to elevate the company’s public profile.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international media outlets.
Serve as the main point of contact for media inquiries and manage all media interactions.
Prepare and distribute press releases, media kits, and other communication materials.
Organize and oversee press conferences, media briefings, and interviews.
Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies involving government agencies, industry partners, and the community.
Coordinate stakeholder meetings, forums, and events to promote collaboration and gather feedback.
Respond promptly and professionally to stakeholder inquiries and concerns.
Manage all delegated protocol activities within and outside the Authority.
Oversee production and distribution of content for newsletters, reports, social media, and the corporate website.
Ensure consistency of messaging and branding across all communication channels.
Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to create compelling content.
Develop and implement crisis communication plans to mitigate risks and safeguard the company’s reputation.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum education: Grade 12 certificate.
Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
Between 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in media relations and stakeholder engagement.
Proven success in developing and implementing media and engagement strategies.
Strong knowledge of media landscapes and best practices in stakeholder management.
