Position Overview for Senior Accountant Jobs in Lusaka

Reporting directly to the Manager Finance, the Senior Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring prudent utilization of resources, expanding the revenue base, and maintaining financial accountability. This full-time position offers the chance to be part of an organization dedicated to facilitating affordable financing for viable enterprises across Zambia.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce audited financial statements periodically to comply with statutory and international reporting requirements.
• Generate management accounting reports to support informed decision-making processes.
• Manage the Scheme’s cash flows effectively to support financial and investment decisions.
• Coordinate the preparation of the institutional budget to facilitate resource mobilization and allocation.
• Develop, review, and implement financial controls ensuring adherence to regulations.
• Account for assets to ascertain value and ensure accountability for public property.
• Oversee management of payables and receivables to meet obligations and safeguard resources.
• Supervise storage and distribution services to guarantee availability of goods to end users.
• Process payroll cashbook to facilitate timely payment of salaries and related matters.
• Lead and supervise human and other resources to achieve unit objectives.
• Implement performance management systems to monitor and evaluate staff performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Full Form V/Grade 12 certificate minimum.
• Professional Qualifications: Degree in Accountancy or equivalent; professional accounting certification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent is required.
• Membership: Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
• Experience: At least six years of relevant accounting experience.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Sage accounting software is essential, alongside strong skills in Microsoft Office and other accounting software.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to write technical and analytical reports.
