About First Quantum Minerals and the Role

This role offers a broad operational and oversight responsibility, managing three critical areas: bussing operations, main gate security management, and operational support to the Security department. The Specialist will be accountable for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient movement of employees, as well as secure and effective gate operations.

Key Responsibilities in Security Operations Support Jobs in Kalumbila

• Oversee all site bussing services, including scheduling, contractor management, and compliance with safety and contractual standards.
• Manage contractor performance, validate invoices, and implement bussing strategies aligned with operational requirements.
• Direct daily main gate operations, including access control, visitor management, ID issuance, and document control.
• Serve as the primary operational contact for gate security personnel and liaise with the Security Operations Superintendent.
• Lead escalation and resolution of gate-related incidents, ensuring timely communication with onsite management.
• Ensure searching procedures and declaration processes comply with legal and site protocols while maintaining dignity standards.
• Maintain accurate and audit-ready documentation for all gate-related security activities.

Required Experience and Competencies

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in transport operations, security operations, access control management, or contractor management within industrial or mining environments.
• Proven expertise in managing multiple contractors and coordinating complex operations simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of contract management, compliance, and performance monitoring systems.
• Experience with transport monitoring technologies such as GPS tracking and in-cab systems.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills for engaging with security personnel, contractors, and senior management.
• High integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive security and access control matters.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Full Certificate with at least five passes.
• Degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Security Management, or a related field.
• All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA.
• Preferred: Certification in security operations or access control management, technical training in monitoring systems or fleet management, and additional training in contract management, safety, risk management, or document control.
