About the Sausage Packer Role

As a Sausage Packer, you will play a crucial role in supporting daily production targets by ensuring sausage products are packed accurately and in accordance with schedule. The position requires hands-on operation of packing line equipment and adherence to strict hygiene and safety protocols. Your contribution will directly impact product quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities for Sausage Packer Jobs in Lusaka

• Pack sausage products following daily production schedules and volume goals established by the Production Supervisor.
• Operate and oversee packing machinery including fillers, mincers, and mixers to maintain continuous workflow.
• Ensure pack weights comply with specified tolerances prior to sealing and dispatch.
• Inspect packaging seals for integrity; remove defective units before quality control checks.
• Maintain detailed records of daily output, rejects, and any production downtime.
• Promptly report equipment issues, packaging shortages, or quality concerns to the Production Supervisor.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards such as HACCP and GMP.
• Keep the packing area clean, organized, and aligned with sanitation schedules.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production bottlenecks.
• Assist with stock rotation and general warehouse duties as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent; additional certification in food production, warehousing, or related fields is advantageous.
• Experience in food production, meat processing, or FMCG packing environments preferred.
• Practical knowledge of sausage production machinery such as fillers, mincers, and mixers.
• Basic numeracy skills to perform weight checks, counting, and maintain production records.
• Capability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights as required.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and overtime based on production needs.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to hygiene and food safety practices.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical fitness to operate in cold storage and chilled production environments.

Working Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and cold-chain production setting where the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all times. Candidates should be prepared to work in chilled conditions consistent with food safety requirements.
