About the Sales Representative Role in Copperbelt

Reporting to the Sales and Operations Supervisor, the Sales Representative will be responsible for managing territory sales, optimizing retail presence, and building strong customer relationships. If you are attentive to shelf pricing and stock levels, adept at balancing commercial targets with strategic routing, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this role is made for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth by mapping efficient customer call routes and securing strategic orders aligned with store budgets.
  • Introduce new products and maintain shelf dominance across the Copperbelt retail network.
  • Manage and supervise on-site merchandisers to ensure impeccable shelf presentation and accurate pricing.
  • Inspect outlets for stock quality issues, negotiate claims, and collaborate with Credit Control to manage overdue debts.
  • Gather market intelligence through direct engagement with buyers and end-users, resolving customer complaints through effective mediation.
  • Prepare and submit detailed weekly, fortnightly, and monthly sales reports to support decision-making.

Performance Standards and Cultural Fit

Success in this role requires meeting rigorous performance metrics, including:

  • Consistently achieving annual and quarterly product quotas while maintaining optimal stock levels.
  • Adhering to the 100x100x100 standard: securing 100% of agreed stock lines in all designated stores at all times.
  • Demonstrating agility and boldness by making timely, data-driven decisions reflecting local purchasing habits.
  • Serving as a reliable link between internal teams and external retail partners, fostering strong collaboration.
  • Embracing continuous improvement through feedback and corrective action to optimize routes and protect margins.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Academic: Minimum A-Levels with a Sales & Marketing Diploma; a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field is advantageous.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • Experience: At least 3 years in frontline sales within the FMCG sector, with strong knowledge of the Copperbelt retail landscape.
  • Skills: Proven ability in persuasive selling, data-driven forecasting, and conflict resolution.
  • Attributes: High-energy, resilient extrovert who thrives under sales pressure and excels in teamwork and accountability.
