Position Overview

We have two full-time Safety Officer positions available in Lusaka. The primary purpose of these roles is to ensure strict adherence to health and safety protocols and to keep staff well-informed about workplace safety procedures. This is essential to fostering a secure and productive environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities for Safety Officer Jobs in Lusaka

• Organize and conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Identify potential safety hazards and recommend corrective actions, including follow-up evaluations.
• Support the planning and delivery of preventive care, safety, and compliance training programs.
• Ensure all activities comply with approved manuals, internal policies, procedures, and sound engineering practices.
• Stay updated on occupational health and safety legislation and ensure company adherence.
• Inspect machinery and equipment to detect unsafe conditions and suggest improvements.
• Collaborate with the company medical services unit to coordinate emergency response for injured or ill employees.
• Lead safety toolbox talks and presentations to educate staff on relevant health and safety topics.
• Investigate workplace accidents and prepare detailed reports with recommendations to enhance safety measures.
• Develop and monitor work plans within the safety function to track performance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• 3 to 5 years of professional experience as a safety officer.
• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Valid practicing certificate as a health and safety officer.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and coordination capabilities.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to safety excellence.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
