About the Role: Safety and Environment Controller
The primary purpose of this position is to support operational and line management in maintaining a comprehensive and professional Occupational Health and Safety system. You will ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards and practices, aligned with AB InBev’s VPO Safety and Environment Pillars, to meet key performance indicators and promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities for Safety and Environment Controller Jobs in Lusaka
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and internal standards.
- Maintain a safe work environment across the plant, wet depot, and warehouse facilities.
- Monitor and advise on the implementation of VPO Safety and Environment Pillars to achieve compliance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct safety and environmental audits, risk assessments, and workplace hazard identifications.
- Oversee reporting, investigation, and closure of safety and environmental incidents and observations using Credit360 and Safety App tools.
- Analyze losses and waste related to safety incidents to develop prioritized action plans.
- Lead safety and environmental awareness campaigns, including World Safety Day/Week and World Environment/Water Day activities.
- Collaborate with line managers to investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Manage induction and ongoing safety training for employees, contractors, and service providers.
- Support safe execution of capital projects and ensure security standards are upheld on-site.
- Maintain safety and environmental documentation such as SOPs, manuals, policies, and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Safety Management, BSc, or BTech.
- National Diploma in Safety Management, NEBOSH certification, or equivalent safety, health, and environment lead auditor training.
- Accredited Incident Investigation and Internal Auditing courses.
- Formal training in risk identification and assessment from an accredited institute.
- Understanding of AB InBev’s Safety, Health & Environmental Management Systems (VPO) is advantageous.
- Certificate of Competency in Safety, Health, and Environment from a recognized institution.
- Qualifications in safety legal compliance.
- 2 to 3 years’ experience in a safety and/or environmental role.
