Save the Children International invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Safeguarding, Risk & Compliance Officer based in Lusaka, Zambia. This role is central to strengthening safeguarding and compliance frameworks within the country programme, ensuring adherence to child protection standards, risk management, and organizational policies.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Safeguarding, Risk & Compliance Officer will lead efforts to develop, implement, and maintain robust safeguarding systems, including child safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policies. This full-time role is offered on a two-year renewable contract and is classified under grade NAT 4 within the Programme Operations team.

Key Responsibilities for Safeguarding Risk Compliance Officer Jobs in Lusaka

• Design, adapt, and enforce safeguarding and compliance systems, ensuring timely reporting of all concerns.
• Build capacity of staff, partners, and stakeholders through targeted training, tool development, and ongoing technical support.
• Integrate safeguarding and compliance measures into all phases of programme design, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
• Conduct regular field visits for quality assurance and provide expert guidance to safeguarding focal points.
• Ensure organizational compliance with internal policies, donor regulations, and national legislation through reviews and risk assessments.
• Manage safeguarding and compliance documentation, including training records, incident reports, and corrective action plans.
• Collaborate across departments such as Human Resources, MEAL, Programme Operations, and Supply Chain to enhance risk management and control environments.

Qualifications and Experience

• University degree in Law, Risk Management, or relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA.
• At least five years of experience in safeguarding, compliance, risk management, preferably within NGOs or development sectors.
• Demonstrated expertise in capacity building, policy development, and delivering training to diverse audiences.
• Certification as a Fraud Examiner or similar credentials is highly desirable.
• Relevant safeguarding certification is an advantage.
