Position Overview: Resource Acquisition Manager

The Resource Acquisition Manager will oversee WWF Zambia’s resource mobilization efforts, including identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, managing donor agreements, and fostering strategic partnerships. This role is pivotal in ensuring alignment of resources with conservation priorities and creating an enabling environment for sustained fundraising success.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor WWF Zambia’s fundraising strategy and annual work plans to increase income and advance conservation goals.
• Conduct donor and funding landscape analyses, providing intelligence on thematic priorities and engagement modalities.
• Lead the proposal development process in collaboration with conservation and finance teams, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and organizational priorities.
• Maintain a robust donor pipeline and coordinate fundraising activities with WWF International and the Africa Regional Office.
• Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships across public, private, and individual donor sectors, focusing on opportunities within Africa.
• Manage donor agreements, ensuring compliance, quality assurance, and timely reporting throughout project implementation.
• Strengthen institutional capacity by training staff and partners in proposal development and grants management.
• Represent WWF Zambia in donor meetings, networking events, and relevant fundraising platforms to expand funding relationships.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s Degree in Business Management, Law, Marketing, International Relations, Development Studies, or related fields.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in business development, sales, or financial resource mobilization, including at least five years in fundraising leadership within INGOs, NGOs, or international development organizations.
• Proven expertise in developing and writing project proposals for diverse philanthropic actors including public sector, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong knowledge of conservation and development issues, donor strategies, funding instruments, and contract administration.
• Demonstrated success in cultivating multi-sector funding partnerships and negotiating with government and donors.
• Financial analysis skills including budgeting, scenario planning, and business case development.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships, resolve conflicts, and work effectively across cultures and sectors.
• Self-motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Working Relationships

The Resource Acquisition Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams including Conservation, Finance, and regional offices, as well as external stakeholders such as government agencies, donors, NGOs, academic institutions, and private sector partners.
