Our client is expanding and requires a Regional Service Engineer to oversee technical operations, maintain high uptime, and manage fault resolution across assigned hubs. This position entails leadership responsibilities, including coordination of Field Service Engineers and ensuring preventive maintenance activities are executed effectively.
Key Responsibilities for Regional Service Engineer Jobs in Lusaka
- Hub Monitoring & Uptime Management (30%)
- Monitor energy performance and charging availability at all hubs within the region.
- Identify and escalate hubs nearing capacity limits (>80%).
- Proactively prevent downtime through troubleshooting and intervention planning.
- Ensure connectivity and communication systems are operational.
- Track and improve battery pack availability.
- Troubleshooting & Preventive Maintenance (30%)
- Diagnose and repair faults in smart chargers, HC3 systems, battery packs, BESS, and PV systems.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and on-site repairs.
- Support root cause analyses for recurring technical issues.
- Maintain detailed maintenance and repair documentation.
- Team Coordination & Leadership (20%)
- Coordinate and support Field Service Engineers and interns.
- Provide technical coaching and ensure compliance with SOPs and HSE standards.
- Participate in operational planning and conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members.
- Reporting & Escalation Management (10%)
- Document and escalate technical issues promptly.
- Provide daily updates on hub status and submit weekly and monthly performance reports.
- Track hubs requiring upgrades or capacity interventions.
- Inventory & Asset Management (10%)
- Assist in tracking technical inventory and ensure availability of operational tools.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
- Technical Expertise: Minimum 5 years’ experience troubleshooting and maintaining electrical or renewable energy systems, including battery systems, solar PV, power electronics, and charging infrastructure.
- Hands-On Experience: Proven ability to manage technical operations and uptime in field environments with a focus on preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Analytical Skills: Strong data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret operational trends and generate reports.
- Problem-Solving: Skilled in diagnosing complex technical issues and applying root cause analysis.
- Communication & Leadership: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead and coordinate field teams effectively.
- Initiative: Self-motivated, with a strong ownership mentality and capability to coach team members.
