Key Responsibilities for Receiving Packing Dispatch Superintendent Jobs in Siavonga
- Receiving Stock: Supervise and coordinate the receipt of fresh fish from harvest teams, ensuring compliance with SOPs including appropriate ice topping on fish bins.
- Maintain continuous communication with the Lake Operations team regarding logistics of harvest trailers transporting fish to the harbour.
- Ensure proper handling of bins to prevent damage to equipment and processing facilities.
- Verify harvest quantities using Power BI and other reporting tools to match actual stock received.
- Oversee offloading processes to minimize product spillage and uphold food safety standards.
- Track daily fish volumes received and identify process improvements to reduce losses and optimise resources.
Packing and Dispatch Operations
- Ensure availability of correct packaging materials to meet daily dispatch requirements.
- Supervise prompt and efficient fish packing according to product specifications, customer orders, and quality benchmarks.
- Monitor packing team performance to meet production targets and minimize waste.
- Collaborate closely with Quality Control to enforce hygiene, product integrity, and temperature compliance.
- Coordinate the timely dispatch of packed fish to commercial distribution centers, verifying refrigeration systems and order accuracy prior to dispatch.
- Maintain detailed records of dispatches for traceability and compliance.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and Yalelo’s Workplace Health & Safety standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of workplace hazards and implement risk control measures.
- Guarantee safe use of all plant, equipment, and substances, with adequate worker training and supervision.
Team Leadership and Development
- Manage performance and schedules of receiving attendants, packers, internal logistics, and dispatch teams.
- Develop, update, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and conduct regular team training sessions.
- Lead team meetings to review performance, set objectives, and implement improvement plans.
- Collaborate with HR to address skills gaps and oversee attendance, leave planning, and disciplinary processes.
- Ensure 100% compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Drive process efficiency initiatives while managing manpower and controlling overtime costs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Production Management, Food Science, Warehousing, or a related field.
- Full Grade 12 Certificate with all academic qualifications certified by ZAQA.
- Membership in the relevant professional body is required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fish or food processing, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Proven knowledge of HACCP, ISO standards, cold chain management, and food safety regulations.
- Experience managing teams in high-volume production or logistics environments.
