About the Quarry Superintendent Role
The Quarry Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing all quarry operations to ensure they meet stringent safety standards and comply with local regulations. The successful candidate will manage mining plans, coordinate development activities, and supervise critical operations such as drilling, blasting, loading, haulage, and overburden removal. Achieving production targets in both quality and quantity will be a key focus, alongside monitoring contractor performance and equipment utilization.
Key Responsibilities for Quarry Superintendent Jobs in Ndola
- Manage quarry operations in accordance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements
- Implement approved mining plans and oversee quarry development activities
- Supervise drilling, blasting, loading, haulage, and overburden removal processes
- Ensure production targets are consistently met for quality and volume
- Monitor contractor performance and optimize equipment utilization
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to enhance equipment reliability and availability
- Support quality control through drill hole sampling and raw mix optimization
- Ensure environmental compliance concerning dust, vibration, noise, and water management
- Prepare operational and statutory reports for the quarry
- Lead, mentor, and develop quarry supervisors, drillers, and contractor personnel
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Advanced Diploma or Degree in Mining or a related field
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ relevant experience in quarry or mining operations management
- Valid Blasting Licence
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Proven expertise in drilling, blasting, and quarry operations management
- Strong understanding of quarrying and cement manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of mining plans, blast design, and shot-firing techniques
- Comprehensive awareness of quarry safety and environmental regulations
