Quantity Surveyor Job Overview
The Quantity Surveyor will play a critical role in managing cost planning, contract administration, and financial control of construction projects. This position demands strong expertise in project valuation, risk management, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Registration with the Zambia Institute of Quantity Surveyors (ZIQS) is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities for Quantity Surveyor
- Review architectural and engineering plans to estimate material quantities and costs accurately.
- Establish and monitor budgets for payments, inventory, and materials throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare contracts, tender documents, and oversee procurement processes.
- Identify and mitigate financial and construction risks.
- Conduct interim valuations and finalize accounts to ensure value-for-money delivery.
- Negotiate terms with contractors and subcontractors to secure favorable agreements.
- Maintain detailed progress reports covering materials usage and financial updates.
Qualifications and Experience Required for Quantity Surveyor
- Full Grade 12 certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Science, Construction Economics, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years’ experience managing construction projects.
- Active membership with the Zambia Institute of Quantity Surveyors (ZIQS).
Land Surveyor Job Overview
The Land Surveyor will be responsible for measuring and mapping land boundaries, features, and contours to support construction and land development activities. The role requires proficiency with modern surveying instruments and software to ensure accurate data collection and compliance with legal property definitions.
Primary Responsibilities for Land Surveyor
- Conduct land and topographic surveys to define property boundaries and land features.
- Operate GPS, total stations, levels, and other surveying equipment.
- Prepare detailed survey reports, maps, plats, and legal descriptions.
- Analyze survey data using CAD and GIS software to ensure precision and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and construction teams.
- Set out construction works in accordance with design plans.
- Maintain accurate records of survey data and field notes.
- Ensure compliance with local laws and safety standards at all times.
Required Qualifications for Land Surveyor
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering with surveying specialization.
- Proficiency in surveying software such as AutoCAD and GIS tools.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Experience operating modern surveying instruments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- At least five years of combined field and office surveying experience.
- Must be a resident of Lusaka and available to start urgently.
