About the Quantity Surveyor Intern Role

This full-time internship position is based on-site in Lusaka and offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from ZMW 3,500 to ZMW 4,500. You will work closely with experienced professionals to develop practical skills essential to quantity surveying and construction economics.

Key Responsibilities for Quantity Surveyor Intern Jobs in Lusaka

• Assist in taking off quantities and preparing bills of quantities (BoQs) from drawings and specifications
• Support the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation
• Conduct material take-offs and compare supplier quotations to aid procurement decisions
• Help measure completed works and prepare monthly valuations, interim payment certificates, and variation records
• Collaborate with site teams to monitor costs, reconcile materials, and report project progress
• Maintain organized cost records, contract documentation, and project files

Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma or degree (completed or in progress) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Building, or a related discipline
• Basic exposure to measurement and estimating within construction is advantageous but not mandatory
• Good understanding of construction drawings, terminology, and building components
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with QS or drafting software such as CostX, WinQS, Candy, Bluebeam, or AutoCAD is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
