Position Overview: Quality Control Engineer

The appointed Quality Control Engineer will be responsible for creating, preparing, and implementing the quality control (QC) plan, alongside all relevant directives and instructions that support this plan. The primary focus will be on developing and managing quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure all construction activities adhere strictly to contract specifications and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities in Quality Control Jobs in Kasempa

• Develop and document comprehensive procedures for quality control and quality assurance.
• Conduct site and laboratory tests to verify material and workmanship conformity with contract standards.
• Supervise construction contracts, including quantity measurement, quality assessment, and variation control.
• Ensure contractor adherence to all project specifications and quality standards.
• Establish and maintain standardized documentation for construction works and quality assurance.
• Review and improve existing operational documentation to enhance quality management processes.
• Create standard quality control procedures for contractor implementation.
• Develop evaluation procedures for project alternatives on construction tasks, ensuring at least two alternatives are assessed.
• Implement robust quality assurance protocols throughout project execution.
• Assess and recommend appropriate construction methods, balancing labor-based and heavy machinery approaches.
• Review Bills of Quantities, contract documents, bidding, and contracting processes for each construction phase.
• Define cost norms and procedures to estimate rehabilitation and maintenance expenses.
• Supervise contractors to ensure proper execution of work plans.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Technical Advisor or Project Manager.
• Submit monthly written progress reports to the Chief Technical Advisor/Project Manager.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Must be a Zambian citizen aged 30 years or older.
• Possess a full Grade 12 certificate.
• Hold a degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Quality Control.
• Have at least 13 years of experience in building and vertical structures engineering projects.
• Be a registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
• Demonstrate fluency in spoken and written English.
• Provide three traceable professional references.
