Role Overview for Purchasing Supervisor Jobs in Lusaka
As a Purchasing Supervisor at Sunda International, you will be responsible for overseeing daily procurement operations to ensure timely acquisition of goods and services. Your role will involve managing supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with company policies, and implementing purchasing strategies that optimize value and reduce costs. You will also supervise and support procurement team members to meet departmental objectives, ensuring smooth coordination across internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily purchasing activities to guarantee timely procurement of required goods and services.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best possible terms and value.
- Review purchase requisitions and approve purchase orders following company procurement policies.
- Monitor supplier performance including delivery schedules and quality standards.
- Coordinate tendering and supplier evaluation processes when applicable.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and prepare detailed purchasing reports.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand procurement needs and forecast future requirements.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and procurement best practices.
- Ensure full compliance with procurement procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and support procurement staff to achieve team and organizational goals.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional procurement certification such as CIPS or equivalent is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement or purchasing roles, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, logistics, infrastructure, or related industries preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems such as SAP or similar procurement software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
