Role Overview for Project Technical Coordinator Jobs in Lusaka

The Project Technical Coordinator will provide leadership, coordination, and technical guidance for the e-mobility project. This role acts as a key link between ZEMA, UNEP, government ministries, private sector stakeholders, and civil society to promote sustainable, low-carbon, and gender-responsive mobility solutions across Zambia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Oversee daily project operations, ensuring alignment with objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with ministries, agencies, private sector partners, NGOs, and development partners for smooth project implementation.
  • Manage financial aspects including budget preparation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Organize meetings such as inception, stakeholder, and Project Steering Committee (PSC) sessions, serving as PSC Secretary.
  • Supervise consultants, subcontractors, and technical working groups.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication and notify UNEP and PSC of any changes requiring approval.
  • Prepare progress, financial, audit, and final project reports.
  • Technical Oversight: Ensure quality and coherence of all project outputs and deliverables.
  • Develop Terms of Reference for consultants and partners.
  • Identify and manage technical, environmental, and social risks, updating mitigation plans accordingly.
  • Oversee environmental and social safeguards, grievance redress, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Review and update safeguard and gender action plans bi-annually.
  • Monitor Gender Action Plan implementation and capacity-building initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade Twelve certificate with at least five acceptable “O” levels including Mathematics and English.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, Transport Planning, Energy Policy, Project Management, or related field. A Master’s degree is advantageous.
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant professional experience, including project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and technical reporting.
  • Experience in Environmental Management, Transport, or Renewable Energy sectors is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with GEF, UNEP, or similar international project frameworks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Contract and Working Conditions

  • Contract duration: 36 months.
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week.
  • Travel as required.
