Barrick Lumwana Mining Corporation is seeking a dedicated professional for one of the leading project manager jobs in Kalumbila. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead critical infrastructure expansion within a world-class mining environment located in Kalumbila, North West Province, Zambia.
About the Role: Project Manager Jobs in Kalumbila
As Project Manager – Non Process Infrastructure (NPI) for the Lumwana Expansion Project, you will report directly to the General Manager and take ownership of delivering key project components safely, on time, and within budget. The expansion aims to increase mining production from 150 Mtpa to 350 Mtpa by 2026 and processing throughput from 27 Mtpa to 52 Mtpa, with construction scheduled through 2028.
You will lead the planning and execution of infrastructure projects including the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), surface water management systems, camp facilities, and airstrip infrastructure. Collaboration with the process plant and HIA Project Managers will be essential to ensure alignment and seamless project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain project baselines covering schedule, budget, and scope, driving milestones to completion.
- Manage contractors, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure contractual compliance and quality standards.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to align work packages effectively.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to technical, scheduling, cost, and health, safety, and environment (HSE) factors.
- Ensure strict adherence to HSE, quality, environmental protocols, and local regulatory requirements.
- Lead local content initiatives including workforce training and supplier development programs.
- Engage with community stakeholders, local authorities, and project partners to maintain social license to operate.
- Provide comprehensive progress reports to senior management, covering cost and schedule status, change requests, and mitigation plans.
- Oversee smooth handover to operations readiness upon project commissioning.
- Collaborate on project charters, scoping, cost-benefit analysis, AFE preparation, and HSE planning to ensure successful execution.
- Exhibit strong, decisive leadership to uphold safety, quality, value, timeliness, and profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Grade 12 school certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mining, or Metallurgy.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
- At least 10 years’ experience in the mining industry with a focus on project expansion.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
- Strong knowledge of safe working practices and compliance.
- Membership in the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office and strong computer skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Valid driver’s license is mandatory.
