About the Role – Project Accountant

The Project Accountant will be based at the DAPP Headquarters in Ndola and will report directly to the Project Finance Manager. This full-time role involves managing the financial accounting for multiple projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely posting and accurate record-keeping of all monthly financial transactions.
  • Maintain custody and control of payment vouchers.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring project budgets, documenting significant budget variances.
  • Prepare schedules for statutory obligations related to assigned projects.
  • Verify contractual and financial details of invoices and payments to ensure accuracy.
  • Support payroll preparation by updating staff payment records.
  • Prepare audit documentation and assist with internal and external audit processes.
  • Produce timely bank reconciliations for all assigned projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date asset registers for project assets.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience; or Diploma in Accountancy with at least 5 years’ experience.
  • Paid-up membership of the Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants (ZICA).
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Sage 300 ERP or other approved accounting software.
