Role Overview: Procurement and Logistics Coordinator Jobs in Lusaka
The Procurement & Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role in coordinating procurement activities, logistics planning, inventory management, and supply chain operations. This position ensures that materials, equipment, and services are delivered efficiently and on schedule to support program implementation and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Coordination: Manage procurement processes from requisition through delivery, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and local regulations.
- Adapt and implement procurement policies tailored to local operational requirements.
- Train staff on standard operating procedures to maintain consistent compliance.
- Source suppliers, obtain quotations, and assist in bid evaluations and contract preparation.
- Collaborate with program and engineering teams to clarify specifications and delivery timelines.
- Logistics and Transport: Coordinate transport and delivery of materials and equipment to project sites, monitor shipments, and resolve delays.
- Manage fleet utilization, vehicle scheduling, and maintain dispatch documentation.
- Supervise drivers to ensure safe and timely deliveries.
- Warehouse and Inventory Management: Oversee receiving, storage, stock control, and periodic inventory counts to maintain accurate records and organized warehouse operations.
- Monitor stock levels and facilitate timely replenishment.
- Supply Chain Planning and Coordination: Support demand forecasting aligned with program workplans and construction schedules.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to mitigate supply chain risks and improve efficiency.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all procurement and logistics activities comply with policies and regulations.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and prepare regular updates on procurement and inventory status.
- Track key supply chain performance indicators, including lead times and delivery reliability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Active membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) is mandatory.
- Possession of ZAQA certified qualifications is required.
