The Planner, Process Plant will focus on planning corrective and preventive maintenance activities to ensure equipment availability and efficient use of resources. Key Responsibilities for Planner Process Plant Jobs in Solwezi

  • Develop and schedule maintenance plans for plant equipment, including corrective and preventive tasks.
  • Create and manage work orders in the CMMS system, coordinating personnel, materials, tools, and external services.
  • Establish preventive maintenance schedules to minimize errors and streamline weekly planning.
  • Prepare detailed job plans following manufacturer guidelines and internal procedures.
  • Analyze feedback from completed maintenance tasks to update plans and prioritize critical activities.
  • Forecast and procure materials timely, managing lead times and inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate spare parts lists and apply for new stock codes as necessary.
  • Monitor maintenance budgets and update costs to control expenditures effectively.
  • Investigate recurring equipment failures to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Lead cross-functional planning meetings and prepare maintenance reports.
  • Oversee contractor work hours and ensure proper charge allocation.
  • Foster clear communication and strong relationships across execution, planning, and commercial teams.
  • Assume short-term scheduling duties and develop weekly schedules where dedicated schedulers are unavailable.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Craft qualification or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil engineering, or related discipline.
  • Continuous professional development through training or certifications in planning & scheduling, project management, asset management, or reliability-centered maintenance is highly valued.
  • All academic credentials must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is essential.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, ERP systems (Pronto, JDE, SAP), and preferably MS Project.
  • Minimum of three years’ processing plant experience, preferably in mining, with at least one year in a planning role; alternatively, five or more years as an Artisan or supervisor with significant planning exposure.
