Role Overview for Pattern Maker Jobs in Lusaka
The two Pattern Makers will play a critical role in developing garment patterns, assisting with prototype and pre-production sample development, and preparing patterns for production. Candidates will collaborate closely with the sample room and cutting teams to ensure seamless workflow and maintain detailed, organized pattern records.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop accurate garment patterns across a variety of products
- Support prototype and pre-production sample creation
- Apply grading rules to accommodate different sizes
- Prepare patterns for cutting and production processes
- Collaborate with sample room and cutting teams to ensure quality
- Maintain comprehensive and organized pattern documentation
- Assist in marker preparation and nesting to optimize fabric use
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma, Certificate, or Degree in Fashion Design, Tailoring, or a related field
- Proven knowledge and experience in pattern drafting
- Basic understanding of garment construction principles
- Strong computer literacy is essential
- Ability to interpret measurements and follow detailed instructions
Preferred Skills and Additional Advantages
- Experience with CAD, digitizing, marker making, or nesting software is highly advantageous
- Training will be provided for candidates without prior experience in these digital tools
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn new systems
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good communication skills and a strong work ethic
Work Structure and Environment
Both Pattern Makers will operate at the same level, with daily tasks assigned according to production demands. Comprehensive training will be provided in pattern development, grading, and marker preparation to ensure proficiency and growth within the team.
