Greater Kafue Landscape Limited is seeking an experienced and dynamic Park Manager to oversee the sustainable management and development of Kafue National Park in Mumbwa, Central Zambia. About the Role – Park Manager Jobs in Kafue Zambia

Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, the Park Manager will act as the Chief Executive of the park, leading a multidisciplinary management team including Senior Operations, Community & Extension, Tourism, Finance, HR, and Funding & Reporting Managers. This is a two-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of renewal.

African Parks, a non-profit organisation managing 24 protected areas across 14 African countries, entrusts this role with the integrated leadership of Kafue National Park. The Park Manager will be responsible for strategy execution, stakeholder engagement, financial stewardship, infrastructure development, tourism operations, and conservation law compliance, ensuring the park’s long-term sustainability and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership and Planning: Develop and implement the park’s strategic plan aligned with African Parks’ objectives and the Partnership Agreement with the Government of Zambia. Translate strategy into actionable annual plans and budgets.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee all park operations including law enforcement, conservation, community engagement, logistics, infrastructure, anti-poaching initiatives, and research programs, ensuring adherence to organisational policies.
  • Financial Management and Sustainability: Manage the park’s financial performance, budgets, compliance, procurement, and reporting. Drive revenue diversification through tourism, donor funding, and nature-based solutions.
  • People Leadership: Build and nurture a high-performing leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and collaboration. Support recruitment, staff development, and succession planning.
  • Stakeholder Governance: Represent the park with government agencies, donors, local communities, traditional leaders, and private sector partners. Maintain compliance with all regulatory and partnership requirements.
  • Conservation and Community Impact: Lead conservation teams to achieve measurable ecological outcomes while supporting community development and livelihood initiatives.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring at least 10 years of senior leadership experience managing complex organisations or large-scale operations, preferably within conservation, natural resource management, tourism, or related sectors. A degree in Business, Finance, Public Administration, Natural Resource Management, Tourism, Conservation, or a related discipline is required.

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in remote and challenging environments.
  • Strong financial, commercial, and operational management skills.
  • Experience managing senior stakeholder relationships including government, donors, and community leaders.
  • Demonstrated project management skills delivering capital and operational projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and decision-making abilities.
  • High resilience, adaptability, and personal integrity.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in Africa or emerging markets.
  • Background in conservation law, wildlife protection, or donor-funded programmes.
  • Experience with public-private partnerships.
