Position Overview for Painter Skimmer Jobs in Lusaka

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing various surfaces, applying skimming finishes, and executing painting tasks both indoors and outdoors. Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship are essential to ensure all finishing work meets professional standards. This role demands reliability, physical fitness, and the ability to work safely at heights when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and other surfaces for painting by cleaning and repairing defects.
• Perform wall and ceiling skimming to achieve smooth, even finishes.
• Apply primer, undercoats, and finishing coats according to specifications.
• Mix and match paints and colours accurately to meet project requirements.
• Repair cracks, holes, peeling paint, and other surface imperfections before painting.
• Carry out internal and external painting works ensuring neat and professional results.
• Protect furniture, floors, fittings, and surrounding areas during painting activities.
• Use painting tools and equipment safely and maintain them in good condition.
• Identify and report maintenance issues requiring attention to supervisors promptly.
• Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the work area throughout the project.
• Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned by the management team.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Trade certification or formal training in Painting, Construction, Building Maintenance, or related fields is advantageous.
• At least two years of practical experience as a painter/skimmer with proven skills in skimming and finishing.
• Strong knowledge of different paint types, primers, fillers, and surface preparation materials.
• Proficiency in the use of painting and finishing tools and equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Physically fit and capable of working at heights when required.
• Reliable, disciplined, and flexible with working hours as needed.
