The Operations Specialist – Transport will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising all internal transport systems at the FQM Trident mine, ensuring seamless, safe, and compliant movement of personnel and assets.

Key Responsibilities of the Operations Specialist Transport

• Oversee end-to-end internal transport activities, including site bussing, VIP movements, and ad hoc transport services.
• Manage contractor performance and compliance, ensuring safe, reliable, and uninterrupted transport operations.
• Coordinate bussing contractors to meet contractual obligations, schedules, and safety standards.
• Utilise transport monitoring technologies such as GPS tracking, in-cab monitoring, and clocking systems to enhance operational efficiency and driver behaviour oversight.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, legal requirements, and safety standards; support audits and incident investigations.
• Serve as the primary liaison between Security, Operations, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain operational continuity and promote continuous improvement.
• Manage all Security Operations at the Mine Main Entrance, including truck management from the truck park.

Required Competencies and Attributes

• Strong technical and operational knowledge of transport and logistics within industrial or mining sectors.
• Proven ability to manage multiple contractors and complex transport operations effectively.
• Experience with contract management, compliance, governance, and performance monitoring systems.
• Proficiency in transport monitoring technologies to support data-driven decision-making.
• Excellent planning, coordination, and communication skills with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
• Decisive and calm problem solver, able to work independently and under pressure.
• Strong safety orientation with a zero-tolerance approach to non-compliance.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in transport operations, logistics, security operations, or contractor management, preferably in mining or industrial environments.
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale transport or bussing operations and multiple contracted service providers.
• Hands-on experience with GPS tracking, in-cab monitoring, and clocking systems for operational control and reporting.
• Minimum Grade 12 Full Certificate.
• Relevant qualifications in Transport Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
• Technical certifications or training in transport monitoring systems, fleet management, or data analysis are advantageous.
• Gallagher Certification and additional training in contract management, safety, or risk management are beneficial.
