Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will oversee the company’s regulatory compliance, governance frameworks, and administrative systems. This senior, full-time, permanent role is pivotal in enhancing management capacity and safeguarding the company’s interests by building robust policies and management systems that unify the organisation’s operations.

Key Responsibilities for Operations Manager Jobs in Kasama

  • Regulatory and Government Relations: Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies such as the Labour Office, Immigration, WARMA, ZEMA, and local councils, coordinating closely with internal departments to ensure compliance and smooth interactions.
  • Policies, Procedures, and Management Systems: Develop, implement, and refine company-wide policies and procedures to strengthen accountability, consistency, and governance.
  • Employee Relations and Discipline: Manage disciplinary processes and investigations, ensuring actions are documented, consistent, and legally defensible.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain and protect relationships with traditional leaders, local communities, contractors, and government agencies.
  • Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Coordinate compliance efforts across departments to meet all legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Administrative Oversight: Ensure the estate’s administration—including permits, licenses, and records—is inspection-ready and efficiently managed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Grade 12 School Certificate (mandatory).
  • Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Law, Operations Management, or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of experience in large private-sector businesses with a focus on operational discipline, compliance, and commercial performance.
  • Experience in mining, manufacturing, large-scale agriculture, or similar industrial sectors is highly advantageous.
  • Proven ability to engage with statutory bodies, regulators, and external stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing policies and management systems rather than solely administering existing frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of Zambian labour, environmental, and regulatory legislation.
