Key Responsibilities for Operational Technology Engineer Jobs in Solwezi

  • Provide engineering support to ensure the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the smelter.
  • Design, install, commission, and optimize operational technology systems, including Siemens PCS7 Process Control System, WinCC SCADA, DCS/PLC, and interfaced equipment such as anode strapping and scanning systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements for all operational technology systems.
  • Integrate operational technology platforms seamlessly with ICT systems to ensure smooth data flow and interoperability.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures aligned with group ICT security policies.
  • Manage maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault analysis for hardware and software, including license management.
  • Research and apply innovative technology and automation solutions to improve system performance and efficiency.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation such as network topology, drawings, and configuration data.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with management, technical teams, stakeholders, vendors, and contractors.
  • Develop, implement, and review safe working procedures and risk assessments related to operational technology.
  • Participate in and manage projects related to smelter operational technology, including lifecycle planning and hardware replacement.
  • Manage costs and equipment, including spares and stock levels, in alignment with the operational business plan.
  • Support skills development and knowledge transfer initiatives for local staff as part of government and company programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors and senior specialists.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • ERB Registration as an Engineer.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Information Technology with focus on operational technology applications.
  • Proficiency in virtual machine platforms including VMWare administration and configuration.
  • Experience with server and workstation equipment such as ESXi, Datacenter, and WinCC.
  • Knowledge of networking and switch equipment including Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with ISA 95 and IEC 62443 standards.
  • Software programming skills in C Script, C++, C#, Python, Java, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with SQL database applications, LIMS, and mine software applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Avigilon camera systems, Kenwood radio systems, mobile equipment camera systems, CTRACK mobile system, Siemens PCS7 control system or similar PLC systems, OSI PI database, and weighing systems.
